He says: “I chose this painting because it reminds me of the optimism of post-war public British architecture and 1930s buildings like the De La Warr Pavillion, but also has the suggestion of a dystopian future of the Logan’s Run/Zardoz type. It is enigmatic, and the colours are beautiful.”
