I am interested in developing oral history projects, particularly around fat, feminist, queer and trans identity.
Stewart’s Paintings is a web project about archiving and disseminating queer art, and using it to develop queer kinship. The link takes you to the project’s website.
A Queer and Trans Fat Activist Timeline
Most people are unaware that there are long and rich traditions associated with fat activism. When people start thinking critically about fat they often feel isolated and think that they are the first people ever to notice this stuff! But we’re not alone, we’re standing on the shoulders of giants – literally! It really helps to know that you’re not alone. This project recorded and developed community-based fat activist histories.
In 2003 I was employed to record the life stories of older lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people on video. It was a life-changing experience.
